HiLight laser automatic extinction ratio control technology has been patented in USA

HiLight Semiconductor recently announced that it has received a us patent for its self-developed lasaer pointer auto-extinction ratio control technology.

The patent, U.S. patent no. 10,205,532, is a so-called “double-loop” transmitter control feedback loop designed specifically for the cost-sensitive and high-volume FTTH optical communications market. It can control output power and modulation amplitude of transmitter stably and accurately at full temperature.

The patent significantly reduces manufacturing and development costs for the optical network unit (ONU) user box while improving the reliability of the device, HiLight said. HiLight expects to be granted the patent in other jurisdictions such as China and Japan.

HiLight has applied this patent to the company’s “Combo” IC chip, HLC10P0 symmetric transceiver chip and HLC10P1 asymmetric transceiver chip can simplify the setup and control of emitter laser, the chip is applied to optical transceiver module or can be directly placed on bosa-on-board ONU circuit Board.

In addition, the technology can also effectively extend the life of the laser.
