Wireless laser coherent communication has important applications in military and civil fields. Science and technology daily reporter recently learned from xi ‘an university of technology, China’s free space coherent optical communication research breakthrough. Ke xizheng, a professor at xi ‘an university of technology, led his research team to realize coherent lasaer pointer communication in 10 km atmosphere channel by using coherent modulation and heterodyne detection technology. This is China’s independent research and development achievements in this field, which can meet the military and civilian fields’ requirements for multiple communication modes, high code rate, large capacity and secure communication.
In the past three years, ke xizheng’s team has overcome many technical problems, such as laser frequency stabilization, adaptive optical wavefront correction, spatial fiber coupling and so on, and increased the detection sensitivity of the wireless optical communication system by about 20dB. Due to the high sensitivity of the receiver, free-space coherent optical communication can reduce the cost of communication facilities for long-distance transmission, and simplify the design of optical amplification and compensation, which is the key technology to realize long-distance transmission.
